I made a strong connection with a complete stranger. Her name is Bonnie. We met around Thanksgiving. I baptised her on a Thursday, and she died on the Sunday. Between then and now some horrific and fabulous things have happened. I met the person who would become my fiance, in person. We travelled to Kelowna for cancer treatment (I had treatment, he was an incredible support). I stared death in the face and said "FUCK YOU". I spent a lot of time in recovery in Waterloo, Ontario and visited with dear friends in that province. I recovered as best I could. I went back to work, only to realise it was a bad idea (like EVERYONE had told me) and made the realisation that I'm not strong enough to do my vocation to the best of my ability. And so I made the decision to apply for, and ultimately receive, long term disability. And so here we are, just past Thanksgiving 2026, and I'm determined to revisit this blog and tell my story. I'm writing this for myself, and possibly for anyone else who wants to give it a gander. Ultimately I'm writing for myself. A record here as I find hand-writing to be difficult. It is my left arm that is damaged and I am left-handed. Of COURSE I am! (sarcasm font) So my plan is to update this blog weekly, and begin with filling in the blanks from the last twelve months. Then there will be wedding stuff, cancer stuff, friendship stuff, and some rants about various bullshit things in my life.
Stay tuned!
